Digital Divide

Closing the "Digital Divide" involves more than just providing equitable access to computers. We believe all children should know how to use the Internet, its tools, and multimedia content for their learning, self expression, and communication. The Workshop partners with organizations interested in closing the digital divide by facilitating the equitable development of new-media literacy skills among children, families, and educators worldwide.

In the past, the "divide" was defined by knowledge of (or lack of) "the 3R's" (Reading, wRiting, and aRithmetic). These days, to "close the divide," all children must also develop a new set of fundamental skills (in addition to the 3R's): "the 3X's"--eXploration, eXpression, and eXchange with digital media.
