REBECCA BYAM

Ms. Byam is a member of the PricewaterhouseCoopers Global Capital Management Group where she advises the management of companies raising capital and involved in mergers or acquisitions. In the mid to late 1990s, Ms. Byam was the Chief Financial Officer for two start-up companies, including MaMaMedia Inc. She formerly was associated with Apax Partners, Inc. (formerly Patricof & Co. Ventures, inc.), a $10 billion private equity company that she joined in 1985, and from which she withdrew in 1995. In 1991, she was invited to advise the Investment Advisory Council which was charged with revamping the Small Business Investment Company program of the U.S. Small Business Administration. She has served as a board member for various organizations and companies. She holds a BA from Kenyon College and an MBA from New York University Stern Graduate School of Business. She is a CPA, and a member of the AICPA and New York State Society of CPAs. Ms. Byam is the Board’s Vice President and Secretary. She provides critical reviews and strategic advice on operational and financial management, and assists the Workshop in writing its annual reports, development plans, and related financial documents.

GEORGE FAVALORO

Mr. George Favaloro is an environmental strategy expert specializing in sustainability program development, renewable energy, carbon management and environmental innovation. He is a Managing Director in the Sustainable Business Solutions practice at Price Waterhouse Coopers (PwC), where he works with C-Level executives from global firms to create long-term value through educating and improving their sustainability performance. Mr. Favaloro received a BA from Princeton and MBA from Dartmouth, and his 27-year career includes line operating experience and strategy consulting with a focus on innovation and new product development at Viridis, Keystone, Avaki, Allair, Compaq, and McKinsey & Co. Mr. Favaloro is the Board’s Treasurer. He provides critical reviews and advice on operational and partnerships strategy, growth management, human capital, and financial modelling.

THOMAS HEYWOOD (Founding Director and Legal Counsel, 2004-2013)

Mr. Tom Heywood is the Managing Partner at the law firm Bowles Rice McDavid Graff & Love LLP. Prior to joining a private law firm, Mr. Heywood had many years of public service. From 1989 - 1993, he served as the Chief of Staff for then West Virginia Governor Gaston Caperton. Mr. Heywood is a member of the American Bar Association and the West Virginia State Bar Association. He holds a JD degree from Harvard Law School (1982), where he was Editor, Harvard International Law Journal and Editor of the Harvard Law Record. Mr. Heywood also earned a BA from Stanford University with distinction (1978), and is a member of the Phi Beta Kappa Honorary Society. Mr. Heywood provided stragtegic and operational advice and legal services to the Workshop since it was estabilished as a 501c3 in 2004.

IDIT HAREL (Founding Director and Board Chair, 2004-2013)

Dr. Idit Harel was the Founder, President and Chairman of the Board of The World Wide Workshop for Children's Media Technology & Learning. She led the organization's vision and strategy. Currently, she is the CEO and Chair of the Globaloria company that was incubated at the World Wide Workshop and recently gained its independence. Idit also serves on Advisory Boards of several for-profit corporations and not-for-profit institutions, and provides consulting services on the use of technology in learning both nationally and internationally.
