OCTOBER 30, 2007 (CARLOS)
- Bumped version to 1.
- Shared code is no longer included in the bundle.
- Made a few changes to allow for activities to include the shared code directly.
- New icon as designed by Rich.

Support for buddy status feedback on Slider and Jigsaw enhanced.
OCTOBER 23, 2007 (CARLOS)
Implemented a variant of the NotebookReaderWidget, used for lesson plans and the Learning Center. This variant is for the later, and does not use a notebook.
There is a problem with the pyabiword plugin, where unparenting it usually kills the activity and loading a new file does nothing. So, to have this working, I left a leak where the open documents are kept in memory amongst multiple tab views. Will need to revisit this soon.

Added some more supporting features for the Jigsaw and Slider Puzzles.
OCTOBER 09, 2007 (SHANNON)
This menu page, is slowly becoming a creative activity in itself. It is now designed to be a user-modifiable interface design and content display -- a "Make Your Own Favorites" Screen. Students are able to make a personalized view of their favorite MaMaMedia Creative Center Activities and XO content; they will be able to choose which XO activities to display prominently (all activities will still be accessible) and they can add their own background images, button designs, background music, etc.

Added support for fetching images from the Journal, instead of the filesystem. Removed My Pictures image category.
SEPTEMBER 17, 2007 (CARLOS)
Added a few features to better support the Jigsaw Puzzle. Nothing visible, but this version is required for the Jigsaw bundle with this same date.

Slider Puzzle is now using the shared code too, so some additions and tweaks were applied. Mesh collaboration helping classes added.

Formerly called MaMaMedia Activity Center, this launcher page has been renamed to MaMaMedia Creative Center.
Changed the service_name for Poll, Story and Cartoon, because these don't yet follow a consistent name as discussed by email recently.

You'll need to get at least this version to try the Jigsaw Puzzle Activity. There is shared code and images stored in the Activity Center now, to avoid duplication (which still exists at this date because the Slider needs to be updated accordingly).
JUNE 20, 2007 (CARLOS)
- On activity launch, the bubbles are now disabled (no longer catch mouse events) and the cursor is changed. That situation is reversed upon successful launch or error.
- Added Cartoon Builder key for activity sensing.
- Added Teacher Center key for activity sensing.
- Changed the Idea Child icon to match the latest design by Rich. There is a problem with the color scheme, which looks really strange in most XO colors on the activity wheel, but looks fine in the activity bar. Can't make it look good in both places at the same time...
- Created portuguese translation, as proof of concept.

- Activity names updated as requested.
- Launching says 'Loading...' until you move the mouse outside the launched bubble. No system to detect actual app start yet, though.
- Title width changed to fit around text (see notes on Slider Puzzle development update for June 15, 2007).
- Title changed to say 'MaMaMedia Activity Center' instead of the auto generated title. This does not, however, work on build 432 (and probably before). Once the XO images are updated it will just work. (by not work I mean the title will appear as 'MaMaMedia Activity Center Activity').
- And it should be obvious from the above, but still: Changed the bundle name from MaMaMedia to 'MaMaMedia Activity Center'.
JUNE 13, 2007 (CARLOS)
- Bubble text moved somewhat upper.
- Added an icon for the idea kid, but since the system needs vector based graphics and I was provided with a raster image, I took the liberty of digitizing the png into a very rough svg. Maybe Rich should pick it up from here, but at least it now has an identity.
- (Randomly) Named all the bubbles.
JUNE 12, 2007 (CARLOS): First draft
- Capable of launching the Slider Puzzle.
- All yellow circles in place.
- Could use a higher quality background IMHO.
- Launching activities doesn't block the menu, and it's kinda slow. Do we need some better hint to make the user wait?
- Automatically checks existence of activities configured and adds (comming soon) to those not found.
- Only Slider and Poll are configured, and in random positions. All other bubbles have the yellow circle and a letter for the name.
- I didn't use any background for the bottom text, as a shortcut to make things happen quicker. But you know what? I like it fine this way.
Description & Goals
Summary
MAMAMEDIA ACTIVITY CENTER is a colorful Menu Page, an activity launcher, for introducing all the World Wide Workshop Foundation OLPC developments. At the center of it we feature our playful Logo of the Idea Child and it is surrounded by Idea Bubbles which are buttons for the learning activities, filled with creative ideas for using the XO laptops for learning and teaching, and lesson plans for students, educators and families in the OLPC communities.
One of the bubbles is the Teachers' Center which includes an overview of our educational philosophy and design principles, a glossary, a summary of activities and lesson plans, as well as links to our Educators Wiki.
Goals
- Provide a playful and engaging overview of all the MaMaMedia Learning Activities
- Make the navigation between and within activities smooth and easy for our multiple user-groups: 1) OLPC young students who are early readers, 2) OLPC families, 3) OLPC educators.
- Present a Logo, a core theme - The Idea Child - a lovable, curious, imaginative character that represents well our vision and mission, education philosophy and design principles (see above) for the Activity Center in particular, and the XO Laptop in general.
- Make a design that can grow and transform and expand in the future.
- Make a design that can potentially and easily be re-designed and/or layered by us or various OLPC communities around the world.

We are still thinking (hard) of a way to make this main MaMaMedia Center Page mesh-friendly... Send your ideas to us!
